The Community Foundation now has a new matching opportunity to increase its permanently endowed community funds and expand its ability to benefit our three counties. Lilly Endowment Inc., under its GIFT VIII initiative, will contribute $2 for every $1 given to an unrestricted community endowment fund – up to $1.25 million in Vigo County and $375,000 in Clay and Sullivan counties! GIFT VIII is a transformative opportunity for our communities and the Community Foundation as it has the potential to increase the unrestricted community endowments by more than $5 million! This would allow the Community Foundation to provide more and larger grants focusing on community enhancement and improvement.
We need your help to raise the matching funds before December 31, 2025. We hope you will consider contributing to a new or existing unrestricted endowment fund. Gifts of cash, stock, IRA rollovers and Qualified Charitable Distributions, along with many other types of charitable gifts, can be used to leverage the matching dollars. No matter the size of your gift, GIFT VIII allows you to triple your gift and its impact!
Deadline to Apply is the 15th of Each Month
The Community Foundation is now offering Seed Grants to further fulfill the objectives of the Terre Haute Community Plan, “See You in Terre Haute”. Seed grants assist projects in their preliminary stages, helping cover the groundwork costs necessary for larger projects. These grants will help expand programs that are developed to encourage population growth and/or increase per capita personal income. The Wabash Valley Community Foundation is able to provide opportunities and funding for various entities in the community through this “See You in Terre Haute” Community Plan.
The grant opportunities mirror the integral aspects outlined in the Community Plan. The categories include economic development, health & wellness, infrastructure, quality of life, talent attraction & retention and tourism.
